Han Ho sublimates the sensibility acquired through the light into new media art, and reflects the concept of light and time simultaneously to his work. Having lived in Paris, New York and Beijing for 13 years after completing Ph.D. at University of Paris 8, Han Ho exhibited 15 solo shows including 2015 Venice Biennale, Brazil Trio Biennale, 2005 France Tze Biennale, 2011 Sophia Paper Biennale, 2014 Urumqi Biennale, and also participated in the exhibition at Palais de Tokyo, UNESCO World Headquarters, and Alien Aquazoo-Loebbecke Museum, Duesseldorf.
Han Ho employs projected light in his art installations, and uses various materials to choreograph patterns of reflected light. He pierces a canvas irregularly inward or outward to enhance the formability of paintings, and the intensity of light is generated according to the size of the holes. As the light passes through numerous holes in the canvas, various messages are transmitted according to the angle of view. Han Ho has the basis of his works in personal introspection, shape of memories and modern meditation intersect to approach this basis with a question about humanity. Light is a source of inspiration for the artist as the consistent title given to the work is 'Eternal Light'. The light is the substance regarded as the universe or celestial body.
The light Hanho expresses is not sunlight, which is a European cosmos, but the light of the Moon, which is expressed as the center of the universe in orientalism. Through the metaphorical and indirect light filtered through Korean hanji paper, the artist uses the subtle light transmitted through hanji to capture the light of the Orient. Hanho chooses hanji as a medium to connect Korean people with the homogeneity of the nation and draws the artistic sympathy of the nation with hanji. The subject of his work, which mainly includes Korean landscape shows the intention of the artist to heal the suffering of Koreans and restore the homogeneity of the nation.
