Kim Ji Won, who was selected as 'The Artist of Our Time’ by Kim Jong Young Museum of Fine Arts in 2015, has pursued a formative variation that evokes the characteristics of transparent materials through a series of glass works based on wine glass. Kim's glass molding works, which are executed by assemblage of wine glasses and wine bottles, assume the situation that the original shape is distorted through the characteristics of the glass melted in high heat as a molding principle. Attention is paid to the physical properties of the object.
 
Kim Ji Won visualizes the issue towards the troubled communication in the modern society by using the transparent material of glass that reveals the contents as it is while keeping its own presence. By transforming the original form through the transparency of glass, it presents the principle of unified communication connecting the world with the surreal form of beauty beyond the ordinary view through the new type of formative interpretation.Kim's works are not made out of molds but the artist chooses the ‘readymade’ artifact and observes a moment of climax in the process of diverting everyday things away from their original form. 

Kim captures the culmination of the formed shape by observing the progress of the deformation from the moment when the wine glass melts and deforms.
